A Note from our Board Chair
Dear Members of the Tandem Community,
I write today to announce an important leadership transition at Tandem. Please find Savitha’s message here.
I want to extend my deepest thanks to Savitha for her extraordinary leadership of Tandem over more than six years. Her decision to step down comes at a time when the organization is thriving, a true testament to her vision, values, and enduring impact.
My colleagues on the Board of Directors and I are grateful for her strategic, inclusive, and high-impact leadership, and the strong foundation she has built for our organization. Thanks to Savitha, Tandem is in its strongest position to date, with a talented and high-performing staff, a culture rooted in equity and inclusion, and high quality early learning experiences across the region.
Savitha has been an invaluable partner, leader, and collaborator to the Board of Directors, staff, funders, volunteers, and champions like you. Her commitment to our mission and her dedication to the community has been a source of inspiration to us all.
Tandem has a lot to celebrate, including a strong foundation of success and excellence built on Savitha’s years of dedication and teamwork. So much has happened since 2019, when she assumed the Executive Director role. The following highlights capture just some of the progress the organization has made under Savitha’s leadership:
- Deepened its equity-centered approach and expanded its relationship-based programming
- Built a resilient and talented team rooted in collaboration and care
- Delivered high-quality early learning programs across three counties with consistency, innovation, and heart
Savitha’s leadership has strengthened every part of Tandem, and she leaves behind a vibrant and values-aligned organization ready for its next phase of growth.
To steward this transition, the Board has convened a Search Committee and engaged LeaderFit, a national executive search firm with deep expertise in nonprofit leadership. Over the summer, LeaderFit has worked closely with Tandem staff and key champions to conduct a thorough and inclusive needs assessment, shaping a thoughtful profile of the leader we seek to carry forward Savitha’s legacy. Together we have designed a job description that illustrates the leader we aspire to find to succeed Savitha and continue on the path she so beautifully and powerfully created. The full job description may be found here.
Please join me in congratulating Savitha on her extraordinary leadership and her commitment to a smooth transition.
With appreciation,
Samina Diamond
